Fire and mythology

The role of the fire was always important that is why people paid much attention to the stories and myths about it. Many mythologies of the world paid particular attention to fire. In Greek and Roman mythologies the fire was considered to be the element of god. There were several gods that were identified with several gods such as Hephaestus, Prometheus, Vesta, Hestia and many others. In the mythology of the ancient India the fire was the incarnation of the god Adni. The Celtic mythology tells us about the goddess of the fire with the name Bridged.
In astrology the fire always played the role of the saint and powerful element and the incarnation of the saint god justice of the goddess Artis. People of the North imaged the fire as the female image of the mother, housewife, etc.
Yakuts and Buryats considered the fire to be the incarnation of the master of the house. In the medieval mysticism salamanders that were considered to be the spirits of the fire were thought to be the less-developed spirits that were living inside the fire.
Together with water, earth and air fire is considered to be one of four elements; that is why it played an important role especially in the ancient philosophy.
Alchemy also paid much attention to the fire considering it to be one of the ways to get the philosopher's stone. In the astrology the element of the fire was connected with the zodiac signs of Leo, Aries and Sagittarius. The planets that were considered to be its patrons were the sun and Pluto. In the Chinese astrology the fire that was one of five elements was considered to be the planet of Mars, South, and summer.
