Agnis

Agnis is the Vedic god of the fire. This god was very popular and honoured in the ancient world.
According to the legend it was stolen by one of the priests. In such way the person got the fire.
Agnis was also the god of the hearth, the sacrifice cattle, etc. Agnis was imaged as the young shinning god that was very generous in giving people family happiness, health, success and immortality. According to myths when Agnis was born, gods decided to make the tradition of sacrifice and Agnis was made the priest that carried the sacrifices to the heaven world. But Agnis got frightened that with the sacrifice burning the fire would stop burning and would disappear. So he hid in the maritime deep water. And then the whole darkness came to earth and demons started to rule there. Gods wanted to find Agnis, and then the fish helped them. Getting cross with the fish, Agnis cursed the fish and since then the fish became the food of people. Gods managed to persuade Agnis to get back saying that the person can't live without sacrifice to gods and made Agnis the priest of immortals.
Agni is the main terrestrial god that was the incarnation of the fire and was put in the centre of the main ritual of Ancient India.
The main function of this god was to be the negotiator between humanity and gods. The sacrifice fire gets the victim to the sky. There are a lot of ancient texts that describe Agnis and his parts of the body.
